Play bingo at Hilltop Tavern Wednesday to aid affordable housing
1
Want to play bingo for a cause?Hilltop Tavern has teamed up with Real Estate Professionals for Affordable Housing (REPAH) in Jefferson County this month for fundraiser bingo on Wednesday nights.
Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and ends around 9, with prizes donated by the tavern.
Games are a $1 donation per round, and that gives the participant two cards.
“It turns out to be about $10 to play 20 cards for the evening,” said organizer and Realtor Jan Marquardt.
“Barstool Bingo” is a regular Wednesday-night feature at Port Townsend’s Hilltop Tavern, with owners Judy and Pat Lundgren donating prizes. Prizes have included plants, blanket throws and other useful and fun items, Marquardt said.
“It’s been a lot of fun, and there has been a good turnout. I’d say 40 people play, and there’s free pool and ample seating,” Marquardt said. “It enables us to give back to the community.”
REPAH is a nonprofit organization started by the agents in the mid-1990s to help the Haines Street Cottages for OlyCAP’s low-income temporary housing. The organization helps low-income homeowners make emergency repairs to their homes as well as promote and sustain affordable homeownership.
Members include John L. Scott, Hadlock Realty & Development Co. of Port Hadlock, Re/MAX First and Windermere Real Estate in Port Townsend, and Coldwell Banker Town & Country in Port Ludlow.

BJ’s Bingo at 4411 Pacific Hwy E in Fife, has been providing bingo entertainment to the local community since 1980. According to Jenynne DeNoble, assistant General Manager, “We have always had special events that included entertainment, but it has always been either before the session started or at the intermission. The regular bingo sessions are normally very quiet. This will be the first special in 30 years where the entertainment is provided while the bingo session is going on.” She went on to add, “This as a very social entertainment choice for the 18 and over generation that fits perfectly in this era of YouTube and Facebook. Kids want to socialize, and Cosmic Bingo is designed to be a great place to do just that and create some great memories with friends.”

Cosmic Bingo. Catch the wave!

Cosmic Bingo is sweeping the nation! I came across Cosmic bingo when I posted about bingo coming back during these tough economic times. (You can read the post here.) A hall was playing a session of Cosmic Bingo and it looked fun. Black lights, glowing daubers, loud music and other exciting things were happening. So I did a search on the internet and it looks like Cosmic Bingo is being played all across the nation! From Washington State, where it is being played at the Swinomish Casino (Their Facebook page is here) to Florida where it is being played at Seminole Casino Hollywood.
It is definitely NOT your Grandmother’s bingo game anymore! I am glad to see the bingo industry trying new and innovative ideas to get more people to enjoy the game of bingo. I have embedded a YouTube video of Cosmic Bingo at the Mystic Lake Casino in Minnesota. It gives you a little idea as to what goes on! Have any of you played Cosmic Bingo? What did you think of it? Let us know in the comments!
Keeping it local at Eagle Rock Multi Age bingo night
0| WRITTEN BY CONNIE BERG from Woodinville Weekly |
| MONDAY, 10 MAY 2010 13:56 |
| Eagle Rock Multi Age in Duvall recently held their annual PTA sponsored bingo night at Cherry Valley Elementary. This year was a little different with a themed prized table “Keeping It Local.” The idea was simple – ask local Duvall businesses for a donation for bingo night while giving them something in return. Each business that donated was photographed by Jeffery LeBlanc, a well known photographer and also the VP of ERMA PTA.
Each store front photo was placed on the local prize table next to the prize that was donated. As the bingo players entered bingo night, it was like taking a mini walk through Duvall. There were great prizes for the bingo players and the businesses that donated prizes got some nice exposure. It was a win, win for everyone. The following generous Duvall businesses participated: About Face Skin Care, Baily’s CC Espresso, Domino’s Pizza, Duvall Family Drugs Health Mart, Duvall Flowers & Gifts, French Nails, Northwest Art Center, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Edward Jones Investments-Danny Edwards, The Bees Hive, The Duvall Grill, The Yoga Garden, Thrive Community Fitness and Tressa’s Bakery & Espresso. People may not realize just how much our small local businesses are asked to contribute to our community. They are constantly asked for donations from schools, local clubs and sports teams. As a reminder, most of our small local businesses are struggling just to keep their doors open. Try to remember before you ask for a donation, to think of something you can do to give back to them. Be creative and have fun! We have VERY generous Duvall businesses. They want to say yes to everyone, they just can’t. |
