Bingo Game Patterns
0Here is a video of all the different types of bingo games you can play. They go through the games very quickly. I think the video if rather funny, myself. The video is titled Bingo Hell. If you have any bingo videos you would like to share with us, please email them to bigbad@bigbadbingoblog.com
Video clip of Gay Bingo
0Here is a clip of “Life on the D List” where Kathy Griffin gets to call a couple of bingo games for Gay Bingo. This is DEFINITELY not your normal bingo game. It looks like they were having a good time and raising money for charity. If you have any links to video about bingo, please email them to bigbad@bigbadbingo.com.
Bingo City part 2
0In part 2 of Bingo City we start out talking about the superstitions people have with bingo, their favorite places to sit, their favorite cards and their favorite numbers. The video then goes to talk about the charity game tickets also known as pull-tabs in different areas of the country.
In the next section of the video they talk about the “Progressive Jackpot” and that it has helped bring players and more money into bingo. They talk to some new players and what their thoughts about playing for the first time are. But then the next person they talk to gets interesting.
They talk to Sandy who has been playing bingo for 30 years. She plays between 60 and 150 cards. The interesting thing is that she doesn’t use chips or daubers. She memorizes the numbers on the cards! She tries to play the same cards each time and will sometimes spend hours before the session starts looking for them.
The documentary ends with the question is Grand Rapids Bingo City? The answer they gave is…..well you’ll just have to watch to find out.
Bingo City Part 1
0Here is a short documentary about bingo that I found on YouTube.com. It was done by TheBattlehills and the documentary is set in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At some point in time Grand Rapids was called Bingo City and was deemed the Bingo Capital by whomever.
The documentary starts off on how to play bingo. It goes through the basics of bingo and gives some good information. If you have not ever played bingo, this would be a good and quick start. After the lesson, they then start talking to players and bingo workers as to why they like bingo and how long have they been playing.
After a quick history lesson on how bingo started, the documentary starts showing how many different places you can play bingo in Grand Rapids each day of the week. The documentary was made in 2008 (or at least uploaded to YouTube) and back then you could play an average of 32 games every week throughout Grand Rapids.
I thought it was a good effort and I look forward to bringing you part 2 soon! Let me know what you think and if you play in Grand Rapids.
Bingo! The Documentary
0
My wife and I watched Bingo! The Documentary this weekend. Too bad the documentary was only 54 minutes long. It went into almost every aspect of the bingo world, from the friends you make, to the lucky charms people use, to even the dangerous effects of bingo. This documentary was made at the height (in my estimation) of the bingo industry in America. I would recommend this video to anyone wanting to learn about bingo.
That being said, it did kind of show the stereotypical bingo players. One that was playing while on welfare. One player had a bunch of crazy lucky charms and bells that she would ring when her special numbers were called. There was a husband who hates bingo but the wife and son play. But you do get some good information on bingo as well. Like the history of the game. I won’t spoil it for you, but it is interesting.
They went into the psychological aspects of the game. They talked to one person that said that bingo is definitely good for the brain. It keeps you motivated and your motor skills working. They even talked about how they did a study and the last game would be a blank card. They asked the players to put the numbers that they could remember from their last card. One lady did the whole card with no mistakes. It wasn’t because she memorized the numbers, it was because she had an association with each number.
If you want a good and interesting documentary to watch then try and get this. We watched it on Netflix watch instantly or you can rent it on Amazon.com here: Bingo: The Documentary. You can also purchase the DVD from Amazon here: Bingo: The Documentary
